Read: Mark 1:14–15

“Repent and believe in the gospel.”

Jesus commands everyone to repent and believe in the gospel. The word repent means to change your mind, to turn around, and to go in another direction. When we hear the gospel—the good news that God sent His Son Jesus to die to pay for our sins—something inside of us knows it’s true, and we must choose to believe it. Jesus calls us to turn from our life of sinful behavior and to follow Him.

When we repent and believe in what Jesus did for us, God freely forgives all our sins, gives us eternal life, and makes us part of His own family. And that’s when we discover the life we were always meant to live!

Are you ready to turn from your sinful life and believe the good news about Jesus? If so, it’s time to “be baptized” in water.
