TEN COMMANDS OF JESUS
(A Jesus Disciple Resource)

“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” – Jesus
John 14:15
Commandment #4:  PRAY

Remember:
  • Repent of any sin and keep following Jesus.
  • Be baptized in water and baptize others who will follow Jesus.
  • Stay filled with the Holy Spirit.

Read: Matthew 6:5–13

Discuss:
  • What does Jesus teach us about prayer in verses 5–8?
  • Discuss the purpose of each part of the prayer that Jesus taught us:
    • Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
    • Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
    • Give us this day our daily bread.
    • And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
    • And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
    • For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
  • What does the word “daily” in verse 11 tell us about how often we should pray?

Respond:
  • What do I need to do this week to obey this command?
  • Who will I teach Jesus’ commandments to this week?

Obey:
  • Pray every day.
