4 – Disciple all who will follow
Most people don’t see Jesus as a builder, but He is. He said:
How, exactly, does Jesus build His Church? What building supplies does He use? Is His Church made of wood, or steel, or concrete? No, it’s made of “living stones.” Listen to what the apostle Peter said:
Notice, Peter didn’t say that Jesus is using, “little bricks.” He said, “stones.” Peter used the same word for “stones” that Jesus and the disciples used when talking about the large and solid stones of the temple they visited in Jerusalem. Except, Peter said the stones Jesus is using to build His Church are “living.” In other words, these “stones” are strong and solid people who have the eternal life of God in them. Wow! That’s a new kind of building supply. And guess what, no building material supplier in the world sells these “living stones.” They have to be “made” through a process Jesus mastered called, “discipleship.”
How large does Jesus want this spiritual house––His Church––to be? Very, very large. In fact, so large that He has called every believer in the world to master His process of “making” these living stones. He called us all to become “disciple-makers.”
Listen to what Jesus said to all His followers in what’s known as the Great Commission:
“Make disciples of all nations? How could we ever do that?” We’re glad you asked. “Disciple all who will follow” is the fourth of “Five Essentials of The BFAM Strategy.” We’ll not only teach you how to disciple people, we’ll provide you with discipleship resources and show you how to use them to turn anyone who will follow into a disciple of Christ––a living stone.
