SCRIPTURAL PRAYER OF REPENTANCE
FATHER, YOU SAID...
... in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV), “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” So I humble myself today and turn my heart and eyes to You, O Lord. I repent from all my wrongdoing and the wrongdoing of my nation. I ask You to forgive me of the sins which I have knowingly committed, and also of those which I unknowingly committed against You. Hear my prayer today, Lord, and heal my land, my nation.
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in Jeremiah 25:4-5 (NKJV), “And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear. They said, ‘Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings...’” So I repent, Lord, for not listening to the messengers and messages that you have sent to me, to correct me and to cause me to do right again. I repent for all pride and stubbornness. I repent now of my evil ways, thoughts and actions.
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in Matthew 6:12 (NKJV), “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” So I ask you to forgive me my debts, Lord; those things that I could not repay to You. Forgive all my debt of sin, disobedience and wrongdoing. And as You forgive me, I also commit to forgive those who have wronged me; they now owe me nothing.
YOUR WORD ALSO SAYS...
... in Hosea 6:1-3 (NKJV), “Come, and let us return to the Lord; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up. After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight. Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.” So, I return to You wholeheartedly. I ask for Your healing in my life and in our land. I ask You to raise us up and restore us. I commit to pursue You, including knowing You more and more each day. Where I have looked to others to provide, I now choose to seek You as my Provider, Healer and Savior. You alone supply all that I need.
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in Joel 2:12-13 (NKJV), “‘Now, therefore,’ says the Lord, ‘Turn to Me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.’ So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.” So I return and come back to You with all my heart, even with fasting and heartfelt emotion. I open my heart to You completely today, admitting that I have wandered from You, but today I return. You have been so kind and patient with me, even when I was not seeking You. Your mercy has been great and generous.
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in James 4:8 & 10 (NKJV), “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded ... Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” So, I choose the way of the humble through confession and repentance. I ask for Your grace, O Lord, and ask you to cleanse me of all my unrighteousness. I am totally dependent on Your grace and mercy, which I know are great.
YOUR WORD ALSO SAYS...
... in Acts 3:19 (NKJV), “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” So as I repent and turn toward You, I expectantly wait for times of refreshing that come from Your presence. I thank You that You blot out my sins, making them illegible, as if they had not happened.
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in Daniel 9:19 (NKJV), “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.” So, I repeat Daniel’s prayer on behalf of myself and my nation, “O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake.”
AND YOUR WORD SAYS...
... in 1 John 1:9 (NKJV), “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” So I thank you, Father, that because I have repented and confessed my sins today, You have forgiven me and cleansed me by the blood of Jesus.
YOUR WORD ALSO SAYS...
... in Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV),
“Call to Me and I will answer..." So I thank You , Lord, that You have heard me and that You are answering my prayer today. You are faithful and Your mercy is great.
